January means Oscar bait. Peter Bradshaw was handing out 5 stars all over the place but I found it all enjoyable if a little underwhelming. That said I enjoyed Whiplash and Wild A LOT; Ex Machina almost as much. Inherent Vice and Selma are however, in very different ways, kinda great.
The utter shiteness of Birmingham cinemas means I still haven't seen Maidan, The Duke of Bergundy, Amour Fou, Love is Strange, White God or Catch Me Daddy [cue angry/dispirited face].
Also, where the fuck are the good Bollywood films. Two months without one! WTF!
Been reading at home so haven't watched many DVDs except when I was ill with the flu. Still, I managed to watch some Rohmer and two of the greatest films of ALL TIME.
At the cinema:
- Birdman
- The Theory of Everything
- Foxcatcher
- Whiplash
- Wild
